Tim Fairbrother
 - Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), BCA, BTSM, Grad Dip Bus Studies (PFP)

Before setting up local financial planning business, RIVAL Wealth, Tim most recently worked in the Irish financial industry as Head of Business Development for Oppenheim Investment Managers.

Tim grew up in the Wairarapa before moving to Wellington to complete a double degree at Victoria University (BCA and BTSM). Tim started his career at TOWER, and within 18 months had moved to the senior role of Business Development Manager.

Tim thrives on helping clients make a better situation of their finances. His areas of expertise focus on comprehensive financial planning, investment analysis and advice, KiwiSaver and farm succession.

Tim has continued to study since returning to NZ, is a member of the Institute of Financial Advisers, and the Treasurer of the Wairarapa Chamber of Commerce.  

Carissa Fairbrother
 - Registered Financial Adviser (RFA)

Carissa has a wealth of insurance experience; she began her insurance career in Wellington working with the largest brokerage in New Zealand, Crombie Lockwood as an Insurance Broker in 2001.  In 2005, Carissa travelled to Ireland with her husband Tim, where she established the Insurance Services desk for a European recruitment company.   

On returning to New Zealand in January 2008, Carissa has been practicing as an impartial financial adviser.   She has completed the Code B requirements from the Financial Management Authority and plans to become an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA) when she returns from maternity leave in early 2012.

Carissa is the co-creator of the highly successful ‘Bubbles & Inspiration’ - a bi- monthly women’s networking event in the Wairarapa with inspiring speakers. Carissa is a member of the Institute of Financial Advisers. Carissa’s areas of expertise focus on specialist business insurance planning, ACC, and personal risk management.



Jenny Griffith
 - Registered Financial Adviser (RFA)

Jenny is well known in the Wairarapa for her work at a local insurance firm, where for 12 years she worked as a Personal Risk Adviser, Fire and General Broker and Claims Manager.

Jenny grew up in the Wairarapa and has been involved in the financial services industry here since 1997.  She brings to RIVAL Wealth, an excellence in customer service and the ability to get the best result for her clients.  Jenny’s husband is a local commercial fisherman, and their 3 sons have now left home pursing their own careers. 

Jenny is a Registered Financial Adviser (RFA), has completed the Code B requirements from the Financial Management Authority, and is currently working towards becoming an Authorised Financial Advisor (AFA).  She is a member of the Institute of Financial Advisers.  Jenny’s areas of expertise focus on rural, commercial, and domestic insurance, personal risk management, and ACC.



Arja Van Der Kooy
 - Office Manager


Arja joined RIVAL in February 2009 with a wealth of experience in the financial services industry. She spent 22 years working for international financial services provider ABN AMRO in a wide variety of roles.

Arja and her family moved to New Zealand in 2006 looking for a new challenge, and now call the sunny Wairarapa home.

Reliable and very efficient, Arja is our in-house problem solver, who loves getting tasks done.

Her areas of expertise focus on office management, preparation of financial plans, client relationships, and underwriting processing. She has an excellent ability to multi-task and always seeks out the best solution for our clients.
 

Donna Hintz
 - Client Manager

Donna joined RIVAL in October 2009 eager to learn as she is currently working towards a BCA majoring in Finance at Victoria University. After working as a Junior Business Analyst in Upper Hutt, she left the full time work force to become a Mum in 2005.

 
Donna now manages her 3 children, her part-time job at RIVAL, and the book-keeping for her husbands Sheep & Beef farming operation.

  
Her areas of expertise focus on processing of applications, database management, and client relationships. Accurate and with an eye for detail, Donna is looking to grow in the financial services industry.

Kris Chamberlain
 - Client Review Consultant

Kris was looking for new challenges in life when she joined RIVAL in October 2011. She was enthusiastic to get back into the workforce after a number of years away. Kris had experience managing a Business Centre in the UK for 4 years, before moving to New Zealand in 2002.

She loves golf, being Club Captain of the Martinborough Golf Club and President of the Wairarapa Golf Association.


Kris will be the polite, friendly voice on the end of the phone, following up our clients for plan and review appointments. She manages our review process for Investments, Insurance, and KiwiSaver, making sure that our clients have the opportunity to have their financial plan reviewed on a regular basis.

Emma Heffernan
- New Business Administrator

Emma joined RIVAL in June 2012 with many years of business workflow experience.

Emma was born and bred in the Wairarapa, and after a few years away overseas and in Gisborne, has returned home with her husband and 2 kids to settle back in to the Wairarapa community.

Her areas of expertise focus on developing faster ways to process our new business for Investments, KiwiSaver, and Insurance, and liaising with the General Insurance companies to establish client cover.   Emma has a real eye for making sure processes flow around the office smoothly, as our processes are ever changing.

Beth Aporo
- General Insurance Liaison

Beth joined RIVAL in February 2013, after working as Mortgage and Insurance Adviser for 18 months at a local mortgage advisory firm.  She has returned to work after taking a year out on maternity leave with her first child. Beth was born in Cardiff, and moved to NZ in 2006 with her Kiwi husband. They are now well settled into Kiwi life. 

Beth’s areas of expertise focus on prioritising tasks and managing workflow. She is also a very fast learner when it comes to setting up new systems.  learning new systems. Beth will be liaising with the General Insurance companies to establish client cover, and then communicating this with the our general insurance clients, endeavouring to get the best terms for them.
